Happy February! We have had a busy start to 2017. The boys and girls have completed their testings and we are all very proud of their hard work and growth they have made in first grade. Some results will be coming home on Monday, February 6, 2017 such as the I-Ready Reading results.
Our next unit of study will be the patterns in the sky, the sun, moon and earth. The culminating activity will be followed by a field trip to the museum of science on March 10, 2017. The field trip slip will be sent home on Monday, February 6th.
In our classroom we are hatching chicks! The boys and girls got to take part in a presentation with the Science department describing the life cycle of the chick.
Here are some pictures from the presentation.
On this past Monday morning, we had the chick eggs delivered. And on Tuesday, we had 6 baby chicks. They boys and girls named them Brady, Pearl, Evony, Sparkles, Isabelle, and Ninja. They will be leaving on Wednesday, February 8th to go to their forever homes.
We have also been enjoying learning about the boys and girls different cultures. They have been bringing artifacts to share that represent their cultures. Here are some pictures of some artifacts that have been shared.
On February 14th, they boys and girls will be exchanging Valentines Cards. This will be voluntary. I will send home a list of the boys and girls names in case your child wants to participate.
Please have a happy and safe February Vacation and if you have questions please feel free to contact me.
